New World Grid celebrates the birthday of OpenSim on January 29th

While maintaining two years Linden Lab published in open-source the resources of his customer the Second Life. Of this action was born the OpenSimulator program, an alternate protocol which allows you to accommodate your own virtual world free of charge on domestic or renting servers.

Today certain success seems to be outlined: that to propose a relevant and dynamic alternative in the metaverse of the american firm in the lime tree. There is still a great deal of work and of ideas to implement, but the current report is rather encouraging. The grids main clauses (OSGrid, New World Grid) develop more and more quickly by proposing a more and more enriched contents. Certainly, we are still very far.

On January 29th of this year, The New World Grid will propose you a demonstration in honour of the program (always in version Alpha but strikingly stable). The evening will begin from 9:30 pm (the hour French time UTC + 1) with an introduction of OpenSim of a dozen minutes by LeoMaxx Sautereau who will present you the main lines of the program, its advantages as well as its difficulties. Then at about 9:45 pm and till 11:30 pm, a music concert free of rights selected by our residents. You will also have the occasion to visit the grid and ask all the questions which you wish Newman as well as members of the program of the volunteers who work at the enrichment of the project.

I give you meeting on Thursday, January 29th on sim Sunshine for an evening of discovery and cheerful.
To return you there, you will necessarily have to join New World Grid by returning you on this page.


To connect you on New World Grid, it is strongly RECOMMENDED to download the viewer Hippo OpenSim Viewer (similar to that of the Second Life but optimized for OpenSim).


Once installed and start, I invite you to press on the compartment ” Grids ” then to select “New World”. The parameter setting is automatic and you do not have more than to connect you. If to wish it to you, you can also go directly on Sunshine by selecting the region in the column which will appear to the left.

Mariachi Villa on New World Grid

Hello to all! The platform OpenSim takes off, it is now a certainty. The number of subscribers increases, but more still that the registrations, the number of connected simultaneous which continues on the set grids. The recent events on a popular virtual world seems to have boosted a movement of curiosity and to support still a little more OpenGrids, nevertheless very controversial in their launch. Nevertheless, in a little more than year, this free tool has considerably developed. News tools should even make their appearance, and we shall not miss to talk again of it. The freedom to create, the weak costs, the access facility, the motivated and fascinated teams, here is the explosive recipe which should make little by little of OpenSimulator a reference. And if the precursor of Web 3.0 it was him?

I shall forget it almost to present to me. My name is Mariachi Villa on New World Grid and I am a resident. In the reality, I am 23 years old and I work in the communication. I am fascinated by the virtual worlds and the innovative computing tools. If I write you today it is because I henceforth handle the part information of this OpenGrid. As long as necessities, I would hold you informed about the evolutions of the grid, about reports of the diverse meetings (certain confidential parts will be however not visible in the general public) as well as the events which will soon feel to animate the project. On this matter, on the occasion of the anniversary of New Word Grid in February, a big event will be organized.

Why to have chosen New World Grid? First of all for its warm reception. The people in charge always took time to explain me with passion cogs and objectives of their project. Certainly, there was (and it there a) some more of work but this enthusiasm and this tangible sincerity seduced me. Working in RL in the communication, I wanted to bring a little of my energy. I hope that you will appreciate my work. If you wish to emit some suggestions, I wait for them with open arms. I begin and I have to learn a lot. Then hesitate to announce your impressions, comments are made for that ;-)

OpenSim Made Easy v0.5 Alpha

We are proud to annouce OpenSim Made Easy v0.5 Alpha !

The reason why it took time to release this new version is that we focused on an eventual flow of residents in the next weeks / months, so, amongst many other projects, we first made a new subscription platform where it is possible to choose your avatar look and sex for your first login ! Watch the subscription demo video here and choose your new avatar !

OpenSim Made Easy has been rewritten in C#. It has not the UPnP technology to configure routers automatically yet. But it will come with time. We have also removed all that is a bother for the users. You just have to reserve your regions on our world map (created by Sbach Xue), then you launch OpenSim Made Easy, you authenticate yourself, and you push the “Start” button. It’s as simple as that. It configures your windows firewall as well automatically. You will have to forward your router ports first of course… Documentation and demo videos to come !!! In the mean time, join us on the chat ot the forums to test !

Also, I would like to thanks officially all our volunteers that helped saving us time to focus on technical aspects and development projects ! Thank you !
