Connecting to the virtual world

To connect, you need to install the client or “viewer” on your computer.

Windows & Linux

Download the “Hippo client” for WINDOWS 0.4 (Recommended for beginners)

Download the “Hippo client” for LINUX 0.4 (Recommended for beginners)

Download the “client Hippo” for WINDOWS 0.5.1 (With voice but not preset for New World)

Download the “client Hippo” for LINUX 0.5.1 (With voice but not preset for New World)

Mac with the Second Life™ client

First, you must download the SL client for Macintosh at: http://secondlife.com/support/downloads.php

Once done, make a copy and paste the icon on your desktop (right click on the icon of origin and “Duplicate”, then right-click a blank spot on your desktop and “paste”) .

Right click on the copy and select “Show package contents”

In “Content/Resources”, you must find the file “arguments.txt” then edit it.

Add in:
-loginuri http://grid.newworldgrid.com:8002-Loginpage http://account.newworldgrid.com/loginscreen.php

Save and run the program.

We suggest you rename the new icon to distinguish from that of Second Life ™.

Mac with the Meerkat client

Download the “Meerkat client” for MAC
Download the Meerkat voice conference extension for MAC

To enable the Meerkat voice extension on Mac, right click on Meerkat.app and select “Show package contents”. Put these files in the “Contents/Resources” folder :
