The New World is 3D Virtual World built on OpenSim OpenSource technology ! Come and join us !
Partners are non profits organizations or businesses involved in the New World Grid development and projects, contributing by giving time, presence or funds. New World Grid would not have been so far without them. Thank you !

The e-ScienceTalk project tells the success stories of e-science through blogs, videos, policy briefings, social media, websites and an international newsletter, International Science Grid This Week.
Scientists today are increasingly turning towards computers to help them create, store and analyse more data than ever before. e-Science, as this is called, allows scientists to connect to colleagues on the other side of the world, tackle big questions such as climate change, and even gives amateurs the chance to take part in scientific research.
Residents and visitors of the virtual world will find on the Virtus region some 3D representations of servers (see image) displaying real time information from the Open Source BOINC grid computing clients installed on each New World Grid server, which resources are not used when no visitor is connected. These computers and servers are working for volunteer grid computing projects such as “fightAids@home”, “Human Proteome Folding” or “Help Cure Muscular Dystrophy”. The project is being run in collaboration with the “Citizen Cyberscience Centre” on the New World Grid.
OpenVCE is a community project led by the Artificial Intelligence Applications Institute (AIAI) within the School of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh. It provides open source and freely accessible facilities to support collaboration in a community, linking a web-based Community Portal with a virtual-world based 3D Space. The project has 2 regions, NewVue and NewVCE that can be visited in-world.

MOUNT GRACE PRIORY, Nord Yorkshire, England
You can visit the Mount Grace virtual spaces on the regions named Mount Grace in-world.
You can read monthly news about the project in our newsletters.
“On 4 adjacent regions in New World, we are building Mount Grace and its immediate environment. This is thanks to the generosity of the French Non Profit Organization ‘Virtus’, which promotes arts and educational projects. The priory was established in 1398 as part of a wide and thriving European network of Carthusian monasteries famed for their austere style of spritual life, their commitment to the preservation of literature at a time when few people could read, and their hospitality to travellers: an interesting mixture! It was disestablished in 1539 by agents of King Henry VIII of england, as part of his greed, his jealousy, and his quarrel with Rome.
Please note. This venture in educational simulation has no formal links with any of the bodies that care for the RL site,
although informal links are being developed.”

“You are all welcome to the Physics region. Physics and chemistry are passions and I would like to share them with you. I suggest to entertain and cultivate you while strolling in a setting where every detail has its importance. You have the choice between walking around freely or following a teleportation path that I’ve prepared for you. If you choose the treasure hunt mode, a form can be collected in the Pisa tower to be completed and dropped in my mailbox in the end of the tour. You will have to teleport yourself to the next point to find more clues and to complete the document without weakening. You can leave messages on bulletin boards asking questions that I will be happy to answer. Prepare your video media player, sound player, entertainments are waiting for you. You can touch everything!” (Aime Socrates)
The Physics region takes advantage of the NINJA Physics technology (Networked INteractive Jointed Assemblies) developped by Nlin. Beyond actual LSL implementations (Linden Scripting Language), this technology allows to simulate more complex interactions between physical objets linked by joints, and to create simulations closer to reality.

The “Caisse Régionale du Crédit Agricole Mutuel Pyrénées Gascogne”, french bank, is pleased to count the Virtus Association among its customers.
Indeed, the Crédit Agricole supports innovative projects on its territory, particularly with the Internet Céç@ contest which rewards young internet users.

The “Parc des Arts” (literally Park of Arts) is an association for non for profit art, culture and education.
It is engaged through multiple media, internet, social networks, blogs, metaverses like New World or Second Life™, the Saint Médard en Jalles’ workshop in Gironde (France) or the Loft, (exhibit space at Saint Médard) with the goal of promoting artists, art and culture for a better accessibility to the widest community.
Torben AspUsing Virtual Worlds As A Platform
I am a composer and performer of electronic music of all kinds and I was looking for ways to get my music out to the public. In my home country it has been like running into a wall trying to get heard but then I discovered virtual worlds and that has helped me a lot.
The past 3,5 years I have played almost 700 internet concerts in different Virtual Worlds, just as I do in New World Grid, which helped me building up a network of people that have been supporting me all the way and the biggest achievement from that was a trip to USA in December 2010 where I got to appear in front of a real live audience for the very first time… and even better that they invited me back.
Virtual Worlds like New World Grid has been a great platform for me to gain interest for what I do musically and I can hardly wait to see what the future brings.
